All you need to know about VHIS
The Health Bureau launched the Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) in April 2019. The goal of the scheme is to create minimum standards for certified individual medical insurance plans, giving consumers greater transparency.
With these changes, the government hopes to encourage more people to purchase medical insurance and use private medical facilities. This will help to relieve pressure on public healthcare services. And consumers will have more choices for medical insurance.
As a medical insurance expert in Hong Kong, Bupa has registered as a VHIS provider with the Health Bureau. The effective date of Bupa's registration is 28 February 2019 and our registration number is 00020.
