This scheme is a voluntary top-up option under HKU’s group medical insurance contract insured by Bupa, and only available for direct enrolment through Bupa’s Health Management Consultant.

    1. Members below age 65 who were not covered by HKU’s previous Top-up Medical Insurance Scheme as notified to and agreed by Bupa (the “HKU’s Previous Top-up Medical Insurance Scheme”) or who join this scheme after 1 September 2014 will have a one-year waiting period for their pre-existing conditions to be covered. Applicants aged 65 or above are subject to underwriting. Any exclusion imposed through underwriting, if applicable, shall be valid while the contract is in effect.
    2. We will guarantee your transfer to the new scheme at the benefit level same as this scheme. To apply for the transfer, you have to be covered under this scheme for at least 12 consecutive months. If you apply for an upgrade of your benefit level or add optional benefits under the new contract, your application will be subject to underwriting approval by Bupa. Please refer to the Health Insurance Contract of Bupa HKU Top-up Medical Insurance Scheme for more information.
    3. Staff who enrol in this scheme will enjoy a 10% first-year enrolment discount and a 20% staff discount, which means a total of 30% discount for the staff’s first-year subscription in respect of the staff’s benefits. Staff can continue to enjoy the 20% staff discount for renewal subscriptions in respect of the staff’s benefits.
